Details: I bought this Jeep 3 weeks ago for $3000 with the word of the private owner that it was in great condition. They told me that the motor had been re-built about 15,000 miles ago and they had installed a ´custom´ exhaust on it. I drove 3 hours to get it and noticed it was pretty loud and there was a diesel sound coming from the front near the engine. My husband and I figured it was from the ´custom´ exhaust and planned on replacing it. I took it to my mechanic this week for him to do a thourough inspection. He doesn´t see any evidence that the engine was ever re-built and the ´custom´ exhaust is actually a hack welding job they did when they took out the catalytic converter. It turns out that the engine actually needs replaced and it needs a whole new exhaust system. Although it would be a great investment, we simply do not have the time or the money to put into it. It does drive perfectly down the road with the exception of the loud diesel sound and exhaust. It does not leak any fluids or run hot. The 4-wheel drive works. Tires are good. The body and interior are in great condition. It has 174,000 miles. Please let me know if your interested. I will take a $500 loss but will not go any lower. Has some damage on it, was hit in the passenger door, very bottom as you can see in the pictures, the window works still, however the door wont open anymore. I havent looked into this problem, might be the hinge latch has come apart from the door handle mechanism. There is also a dent on the driver side front fender. Interior is decently clean and in good shape, taken care of. Im looking to trade it for a jeep in similar condition and price range. Otherwise ill sell it out right for 3000.
