I drive it about once a year just to get it out and circulate the fluids. I have planned to repair or replace the body but I have never gotten around to it. It´s a ´one of these days´ projects whose day has never came. I have since started riding motorcycles, so if the weather is nice enough to take the top off the Jeep then it´s nice enough to ride the bike.The drivetrain is in great shape. The Jeep starts right up. It has aftermarket bucket seats, storage compartments on the rear fenderwells, a center console, extra Autometer guages (voltage, water temperature, oil pressure, oil temperature, tach). There is also an auxiliary heater mounted under the center console.The negative part of the Jeep is the body. The driver and passenger floor boards have a lot of rust, as well as around the roll bar supports and the wheelwell seams. Typical Jeep CJ rust. I put diamond plate on the rear and sides to strengthen the rusted out areas. I mounted the gas cap on the side which helps it fill faster. The paint is chalky. The front of the right front fender is dimpled from hitting a deer. The hood has some surface rust on it. The engine was built with reliable, low rpm, high torque-type parts fitting of a four wheel drive. It wasn´t built to be a hot rod. The carburetor was installed out-of-the-box and runs good enough to drive but could be tuned. It runs rich when cold and very rich when opening the four barrels, but I don´t know much about adjusting carbs.I have new carpet in a box that I never installed, and a bug shield that isn´t pictured. The Jeep has speakers installed, but no radio. The headlight switch died, so I replaced it with a 3-way toggle switch. The defroster controls work, but the vent flap doesn´t. Also included is an Acme Northstar hardtop. Includes the doors. The hardtop latches to the Jeep. The hydraulic lifters for the rear window are weak. The interior is in great shape, the only thing wrong with the interior is a very small rip in the seam on drivers seat and the roofliner is pretty much shot from when the sunroof leaked. The Jeep rides very good and the transmission shifts fine. The tires are in good shape with about 3/4 tread left.The Negatives: I believe the engine is toasted, and the AWD is disconnected. It will start up fine but does not run well at all and overheats because it will not hold any water..it pours out of the back of the motor. The radiator is new but the water froze and caused the engine to overheat and really messed something up. When it was still running I had to take the front drive shaft off because the viscous coupler in the transfer case went bad and was causing the drivetrain to lock up when turning. I have a new viscous coupler which cost me 450 dollars that will be included. The sunroof is messed up because there is a connection that is known to come lose in these models, I know this is the problem because you can get the sunroof to work if you push on a certain point on the interior roof. Has Alpine CD player w/ remote control. Has tow package. Tires not new but have plenty of life left in the tread. Overall solid vehicle; has been taken care of. Used as a daily driver for 10 years, not been driven much this year. Some cosmetic damage on exterior (scratches, minor dents, chips, clear coat peeling on hood). Interior very clean, driver seat leather is a little worn but all other leather is good. Headliner peeling in a couple places. Had a new fuel filter and new idle-air control installed a couple months ago. Engine has minor, little leaks around valve covers that you would expect from a 17 year old vehicle but NO major leaks.Transmission has a leaking front seal that will need replaced eventually but has plenty of transmission fluid in it and would be OK as long as fluid is routinely checked. Heat works. Air conditioner has a pinhole leak somewhere in the lines. Cools fine if you put in some cans of R134. That alone cost $500. It has almost 199,000 miles on it. The interior and exterior are in decent shape. There are some dings and stains here and there. It is not perfect as it is not a new vehicle.
